ADVISORY TO ALL PRESS AGENCIES AND REPORTERS
The Will County Sheriff’s Office is advising all media outlets and reporters that in order to bring electronics, other than cell phones and laptops/tablets into courtrooms, (upon approval from the 12th Circuit Chief Judge), you will need to have a current Press Pass provided by the Will County Sheriff’s Office. You will also need to submit an Extended Media Coverage to the Will County Circuit Clerks office.
With the upcoming hearing of Joseph Czuba on Monday, October 30th, Chief Judge Dave Carlson will hold a hearing on Friday, October 27, at 10am, in Courtroom 405, to announce his decisions regarding the media and what electronics will and will not be allowed into the Czuba hearing and for future court proceedings. Representatives from the media are invited to attend.
Regarding Press Passes: If you have a current Press Pass, the expiration date should read 12/31/2026. If you do not have a current Press Pass, you will need to email Kathy Hoffmeyer, Public Information Officer, at khoffmeyer@willcosheriff.org with the following information:
Name, cell phone number, date of birth, email address, driver’s license number and state of issue, news agency name, supervisor’s name and supervisor’s phone number.
A criminal history will be completed prior to processing your credential. Arrangements will be made to pick your passes up. Please note: It may take a few days for credentials to be processed, so please submit your information as soon as possible!
Regarding the Extended Media Coverage Form: During the media hearing on Friday, if Judge Carlson rules to allow electronic devices such as cameras, and/or audio and video recording equipment, you will need to submit the form found at: www.circuitclerkofwillcounty.com/Court-Forms/extended-media-coverage
If you have any questions regarding the above information, feel free to contact Kathy Hoffmeyer via email or phone: 815-727-5681 (8am to 4pm).
